This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through raleighgaragedoorsos.com (the "Site"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. "We," "us" and "our" mean LM Ventures LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company. Raleigh Garage Door SOS is an assumed name of LM Ventures LLC.
The short version
- We're a referral service, not a garage door contractor. When you ask for help, we send your request to one independent garage door company that serves your ZIP code so it can contact you.
- We collect what you type into our request form (and a photo, if you add one), plus the basic technical information any website receives.
- We don't sell or rent your information to data brokers, advertisers or other companies, and we don't share your phone number with anyone else for their marketing.
- We don't currently use analytics or advertising tools on the Site.
- You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP.
Information we collect
Information you give us
When you use the request form, we collect:
- your name, phone number and ZIP code
- what's wrong with your door and how soon you need help
- a photo, if you choose to upload one
- whether you checked the box agreeing to calls and texts, which version of the consent wording you were shown, and the date and time you submitted, so we have a record of your choice
- the page of the Site you submitted from
When a garage door company uses our contractor inquiry form, we collect the company name, the contact person's name, phone number and email, and the areas the company serves.
If you call, text or email us, we keep what you send, including any request to stop receiving messages.
About photos. Photos taken on a phone can carry hidden details, such as the date and the location where they were taken. If you don't want to share those details, turn off location tagging or remove it before you upload. Please leave people, license plates and anything else not needed to show the problem out of the photo.
Information collected automatically
Like every website, the Site receives technical information when your browser loads a page: your IP address, browser and device type, the page you asked for, the page that sent you, and the date and time. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes this information to deliver pages and to protect the Site from attacks and abuse.
The request form. The request form on our pages is provided by Tally and shown inside the page (an "embed"). When the form loads, your browser connects to Tally, which receives your IP address, browser details and the address of the page you're on. Tally may use cookies or similar technology needed to run the form. What you type into the form goes to Tally, which stores it for us. Tally's own privacy notice is at tally.so/help/privacy-policy.
Our pages use fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser also sends Google a request that includes your IP address, browser details and the address of the page you're viewing. Google says it does not use Google Fonts data to build profiles of visitors or to target ads.
We don't use cookies for advertising or analytics, and we don't currently use any analytics, advertising pixels or similar tracking tools. Our service providers may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technology for security, for example to tell people apart from bots. If we ever add analytics or advertising tools, we'll update this policy before we turn them on.
How we use information
We use information to:
- match your request with a garage door company that serves your ZIP code and send it to that company
- contact you about your request in the ways you agreed to (see "Calls and text messages" below)
- follow up afterward to ask how things went
- answer questions and requests you send us
- keep records of consent and opt-out requests
- run, secure and fix the Site, and prevent spam, fraud and abuse
- respond to contractor inquiries
- comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Use
How we share information
With one partner company. When you submit a request, we share your name, phone number, ZIP code, the problem you described, how soon you need help, your photo (if any), and whether you agreed to calls and texts with one independent garage door company that serves your ZIP code. The company uses your information to contact you and to give you an estimate or service. It is a separate business with its own privacy practices. Once it receives your request, its use of your information is governed by its own policies, not this one.
With service providers that help us run the Site and handle requests, and only as needed for that work:
- Tally, which provides our request form and stores form responses. Tally is based in Belgium and stores form data in the European Union.
- Cloudflare, which hosts and protects the Site.
- Google, which serves the fonts the Site uses.
- a phone and text-messaging provider, if we use one to contact you.
- Our email and business software providers.
For legal reasons and safety. We may share information if we believe in good faith that the law, a subpoena or a court order requires it, or that sharing it is needed to protect the rights, property or safety of anyone.
If the business changes hands. If we sell, merge or transfer the business or its assets, information may be transferred to the new owner. The new owner must use it in a way that is consistent with this policy.
What we don't do. Apart from the one company that receives your request, we don't share your information with other companies so they can market to you. We don't share your phone number or your agreement to receive text messages with anyone else for marketing.
Calls and text messages
- If you check the consent box on the request form, the partner company described there and Raleigh Garage Door SOS may call and text you about your request, as described next to the box. That can include automated calls and texts, and calls that use a prerecorded or artificial voice. Checking the box is optional and is not a condition of any purchase.
- If you leave the box unchecked, your request is still sent, and the company may return your call with a regular, manually dialed call.
- Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to any text to stop texts from whoever sent it. To stop texts from the partner company, reply STOP to that company's texts. To stop ours, reply STOP to ours. Reply HELP for help. You can also ask us to stop contacting you by using the contact details below.
- We honor opt-out requests promptly, and within 10 business days at most.
How long we keep information
We keep request records only as long as we need them for the purposes in this policy, then delete or de-identify them, unless we need to keep them longer to resolve a dispute or to comply with the law. We keep records of consent and opt-out requests longer, because we may need them to show that we honored your choices.
How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards. For example, the Site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections, and we limit who can see request information. No website or storage system is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
- See, correct or delete your information. Contact us using the details below. We'll take reasonable steps to confirm the request comes from you, for example by texting the phone number on the request. We may keep information we need for legal reasons, such as a record of your opt-out.
- The partner company's copy. The company that received your request has its own copy. To have that copy corrected or deleted, contact the company directly.
- Texts and calls. Reply STOP to texts, or contact us.
- State privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under state law. We will honor them as the law requires.
- Do Not Track. We don't track visitors across other websites, so we don't respond differently to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
Children
The Site and our service are for adults. Nobody under 18 may submit a request, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll post the new version here. If we make a significant change to how we share personal information, we'll post a clear notice on the Site before the change takes effect.
